Fridays with Ben: Sharing some tentative good news on the state budget

Because of COVID-19 and the resulting economic downturn, Governor Newsom’s initial budget revision included billions in cuts to education. CSEA’s Governmental Relations team has been using our strong relationships with state leaders to advocate for necessary school funding. We have also united with our partners in the education community to speak as one voice against the proposed cuts. Late Wednesday, a budget deal was announced between the State Senate and the Assembly that would spare schools from many of the massive cuts. While still early in the process, this is a very good development.
